How we review apps
What goes into a page on AIDA Search, and what does not.
In shortEvery app page is built around one specific problem a person is trying to solve. Ratings and review counts come from the Apple App Store and Google Play rather than from us. Pages state limitations as well as strengths, and each one shows when it was last updated.
What we cover
158 apps across 15 categories, from Finance, Sports Betting, Trading & Investing through to the long tail. A category is published only when it holds enough credible options for a comparison to be worth reading.
How a page is built
- Start from the problem. Each page answers one job-to-be-done, phrased the way a person would actually ask it, rather than as a generic “best apps” list.
- Pull the verifiable facts. Rating, review count, platform, pricing and free-tier availability come from the app stores and the publisher’s own pricing page.
- Set out strengths and limitations. A page that only lists strengths is not useful. Where an app is the wrong choice, the page says so and says for whom.
- Answer the follow-up questions. Every page carries an FAQ built from the questions people actually ask about that app.
- Date it. Pricing and ratings move. Each page shows when it was last refreshed.
What we do not do
- We do not invent hands-on testing we have not done, or fabricate quotes.
- We do not publish prices we cannot verify against a public source.
- We do not rewrite an app store description and call it a review.
Frequently asked questions
- How are apps chosen for review?
- Apps are selected by category demand — the problems people are actively trying to solve — then checked for whether they are live, maintained and available in the markets we cover. Categories with too few credible options are not published.
- Where do the ratings and review counts come from?
- Star ratings and review counts are taken from the Apple App Store and Google Play and refreshed on a schedule. They are the stores’ figures rather than ours, so they reflect the whole user base instead of a small sample.
- How often is a review updated?
- Pricing, ratings and availability are refreshed on a schedule, and each page shows when it was last updated. Reviews are revisited when an app materially changes its pricing or feature set.
- What makes a page here different from an app store listing?
- An app store listing is written by the developer. These pages start from a specific problem, set out limitations alongside strengths, and say who an app is the wrong choice for.
